Health, Safety and Environment

As part of the Bayer Group, KVP has committed itself to the"Responsible Care" (“RC”) initiative and brought out appropriate company guidelines.

The HSE elements are part of the corporate goal of

RESPONSIBLE CARE

1. Avoid risks to health

for instance by means of

• production facilities either with no risk potential or else with appropriate safeguards
• machinery equipped with protective devices
• protective equipment for staff
• instruction in safety matters
• works doctor
• preventive health examinations

2. Safe plant and processes

for instance by means of

• planning
• starting up and running production facilities in cooperation with official authorities
• Bayer AG’s specialists and specialist departments, preventive maintenance
• change management
• staff training

3. Protect the environment

for instance by means of

• using filters
• planning und surveillance of disposal channels
• catching and collecting contaminated water from cleaning operations and disposing of it appropriately
• steps to save energy and raw materials

4. Be prepared for emergencies

for instance by means of

• fire alarm systems and continuous contact with the fire brigade
• systems for keeping independent reserves of firefighting water and storing it in isolation after use
• systems for product retention and isolation as well as for safety filters
• storage of hazardous goods or materials under special protection
• emergency practice drills
